Only 27% of his passes are forward, Barry (39.9%), Carrick (35.7%) Song came in at 48% forward last season and 11 assists.

Arteta has the highest passes per game (85) with a 93% success rate. All very nice but not good for forward impetus.

We concede a goal every 66 mins with Arteta holding whilst with Song holding last year, one goal every 79 min.

Sagna's decline can also be linked to the lack of Song's covering.

p,s Only 6 of Walcotts crosses have found an Arsenal player this season. (Orbinho) Last season only 13% cross accuracy.

With Gibbs SAgna and Wally all being lousy crossers, we have Giroud
one of the best headers in the league wanting supply. Everton's fullbacks have a 40% + cross accuracy.

It isn't all to do with the quality of the cross but the number of players in the box. Fellaini playing as a supporting striker to Jelavic probably has a lot to do it with it. Anichebe's also not bad in the air.

Arteta's lack of mobility worries me a little. But there's no point in even attempting to criticise his passing or how important ball retention is. Ramsey has done very well in there the last few games & has a better engine.

Tosh? Of course you can isolate his abilities based on the stats. The point that his crosses are **** are just as valid even if he had scored 20 and had 20 assists (not from crosses).

If it is successful crosses you want to know about, that is what you look at not how many times he has cleared a ball of the line.
