The Frenchman has claimed that it is "unfair" on clubs that have to play the likes of Newcastle United, who have already acquired three new players in the winter market, in the second half of the season.

"I think it should be completely cut out or limited to two players because it is unfair for the league that some teams have played," Wenger said in a press conference.

"For example, Newcastle already and then some teams have to face Newcastle still with six or eight new players. They do not face exactly the same team. I believe the number of players you can buy should be limited."

Or substitutions as the team may play three different players in the second half to the first.

The man has definitely lost it, no?

:nono:

However, he has supported substitutions being banned before the 70th minute of matches to avoid the unfair practice of "tactical doping" whereby opponents of Arsenal frequently adjust their playing staff or, whisper it, even their tactics prior to the 70th minute.

otherwise its not fair. Teams who pack their defences when playing "superior" footballing teams will now be docked 2 points if the opposing team fail to win.

Allowed Per to 'block' the defenders run, giving Giroud space to run free and finish unchallenged.

but it's football, you recognise the validity and diversity of all of the other approaches, surely? I mean, after all, that's the beauty of football.

It's rather annoying how, in this country, we are constantly told to stick rigidly to the footballing orthodoxy, the holy trinity of 4-4-2, man marking and Row Z.

You see more and more of these screens to block a defenders run ala basketball. They just didn't exist back in the 80s/90s.

You have to move with the game, the same as 4-4-2 is basically dead now for all intents and purposes.

bad defending is bad defending because there isn't communication and the roles are unclear. And usually it is just a matter of practing and practing (defensive drills to speak georgegrahamish)
