it will be an all-Middlesex seam attack soon with Finn, Roland-Jones and Harris. No horrible Surrey players

The 1981 series was the greatest any of us had witnessed, and in those days we didn't have players tweeting the gossip from in side the dressing room, so this book was very revealing. From Botham's lowest point, resigning the captaincy, and Brearley's sublime ability to convince Beefy to stay in the team, AND produce the most destructive series performance I have ever seen. The country was fixated by it

He also had the wonderful Return of the Ashes, and The Ashes retained.

His The art of captaincy is a great read, though this is not all cricket based.

Brearley was a wonderful leader of men. His cricket attributes were likely not strong enough to warrant a place in the team, but that speaks volumes about his leadership capabilites.

He is a Psychoanalyst and Psychotherapist. Fascinating man.

and gets a lot of movement.

Seen comparisons to Neil Foster but he was probably before your time :-)

One of the Anderson/Onions brigade I would say. I remember him taking 7 wickets for Glamorgan as a 17-year-old

Even if he doesn't play, it'll be good for him to net with the more senior guys and get a feel for what the international setup is like.

and doesn't overdo the short stuff.

Glides in like Goughy used to do. Isn't a rabbit with the bat either.

Fozzy Foster! Now there's a blast from the past! A very appropriate comparison.
