I actually think it makes perfect sense. We needed to sign him and it appears we've had to push the boat out to do so. He clearly thought there was now a gap for a six figure wage in the squad and went for it. We'll at least be able to command a fee for him when he does leave and, especially with the new deal, wages will probably still inflate a fair bit.

It does seem that we've also been waiting to do this business before doing anything else, it's not helped my irritation with the fleet footed prepubescent that we've effectively been on pause for the best part of the transfer window though.
