Wenger is right and I was wrong in a big way. He went from "he's still young and learning the game" to our highest paid player with nothing in between it seems.

He better show up for games for one thing.

Or pay 20-30k more than he is worth?? Not a hard decision imo

no-one wanted him last summer, no-one made any approaches we know of this window.
Just thinking some of that money would be better allocated getting a real live all round centre forward/striker rather than pandering to a young man who may or may not fulfill his potantial. Jury still out after 7 years, not convincing is it.

what investment??
its arguable we had our moneys worth (????)10 mil for 7 seasons +pay.

Is he a better player for playing under Wenger? or is the debated improvement in his game just a natural outcome of the flow of time.
Would he have been better served staying at Saints and finishing his apprenticeship as the striker he seems to think he is rather than spend 7 futile years out on the wing where he has failed to convince.

Fact is we have finally pushed the boat out to keep one of our more productive players, and while we might wish that we had been able to do it sooner (and with someone more highly rated), perhaps it is an encouraging sign of things to come.

the money would have been better spent making the signings that would have convinced RvP to stay. Signings that would indicate we are an ambitious club, that we aim to win things.
This does nothing to change our current situation other than make us poorer for no gain.

Frustrating he may be, but he has been one of our most productive players for at least the last two seasons.

On top of having the tv deal massively improved this season. We probably weren't able to afford it before.

one thing this deal will do for certain is increase the pressure on the boy to deliver every game. Hope the young man has the cojones for it.

we have merely maintained the statusquo footballingwise at the cost of a lot of money.

the tunnel with a few quality enterprising players rising to the top. Although like most, I am still to be shown the quality in Theo that the near 100,00 grand a week warrants. If he is worth is worth that amount, then so are Jack, Vermaelen, Sagna, Cazorla and perhaps a couple more. Maybe they are not 'world class', but certainly as good in football terms as Theo... perhaps better in some cases.

Simply that that is what he would be able to demand should he be signed on a free transfer. We could either match what Liverpool/Chelsea would have potentially offered and keep him, or lose yet another of our better players to one of our PL rivals.

existing world class quality. I hope this is a step in the right direction, I really do.
