What about if the skid is taking you into the direction of another car/pedestrian/tree? Still the same advice?

I was taught that firstly, you should avoid rapid increases in acceleration, drive 15 mph slower than you would in normal conditions (you can easily get out of most skid problems if your speed is low enough), never brake whilst turning the wheel, if your car doesn't have ABS then do the old on off trick manually, and most importantly, aim to stop your car a few feet ahead of the crossroad you are approaching and then edge towards it slowly
