My opinion on Walcott. He's a useful player. But he's not cut out for this 'star player' role.

Even if he played for United he wouldn't be the top man but he'd definitely contribute.

The problem is we don't have the overall quality at present as we used to have.

I would like to see us keep him as I would be frustrated with arsenal letting him leave for free. I'd rather sign him for a new contract and sell him next year if needed.

we have no real outlet or link between the midfield and the striker. He never drops deep to link up. All he does is look to run in behind. At least with a proper striker up there we have all that and he can still do all his running in behind (which is much more effective when he does it behind a full back).

but generally you need the angle for that type of goal, he tries it every time he cuts in from the left even when he is more central - last night being a very good example

Ferguson seems to have mastered the art of only paying top dollar for proven talent.

Hernandez came as an unknown and probaly if his contract were now due would command a much bigger salary. Welbecks salary is of some debate but he's worked his way up and is now an England int and will probably get an nice increase when his contract is due for renegotiation.
