In plasticland, a pub shows games on a big screen to a filled house, and charges $20 admission. They give you $5 of food, but clearly it shows the demand is out there.

in the US, every cable provider pays ESPN to make the channel available - so everyone with cable/satellite TV is paying for ESPN whether they watch it or not. on top of that, sporting events are nearly the only thing people watch live on television anymore - meaning ESPN makes billions on advertising.
