If not, how many/who would we have to sign for that to be the case

Possibly a left back

And a striker in the Willian mood, who can play on his own / on either side of the attack.

I wouldn't cry if Theo left, if we couldn't promise striker role

I'd like this team

Santi-Giroud-Willian

Fellaini - Arteta

The increased pressure then the following season to get back into Europe to avoid the ****storm that would follow from consecutive seasons of failure.

But second in the premiership, this season, would represent an achievement. Fourth would not - I can live with Steve's "bare minimum" phrase.......

we need signings in defence, DM and striker in order to address our weaknesses. aint going to happen so no point stressing about poxy 4th.

In other words, the very least Wenger/the board can do whilst still retaining our faith and support.

I don't think anyone is advocating an open top bus parade, so it's a bit of a straw man argument you're putting up here.

Change is a pre-requisite, 4th or no 4th is immaterial here

We'll never win it with this present shower or sh#te so who cares if we finish 4th....only the money hoarders at Arsenal.

Bored of these midgets now.

would improve on fourth place to say that "change is a prerequisite".

in fact, the decline will continue. History shows that when we have made brave changes (including bringing in Wenger himself) we have eventually reaped the benefit - though it may take a while.

Monty91

by appointing up-and-coming managers/established managers/managers who were legends as player and not improved at all, and, often declined.

And so what you are proposing is to replace a manager with a proven track record of achieving the bare minimum (or more, in last season's case) with a manager who offers absolutely no significant guarantee that he will do any better, or indeed won't fúck things up entirely.

Surely you can understand why, on balance, some of us would rather stick with what we have?

but apart from maybe a spell between 2001 and 2005, I can't recall ever expecting to win the League. I have had hope ever since George Graham won the Littlewoods Cup in 1987, but that spell aside I have always thought we were 2nd best to either United or Liverpool (and latterly Chelsea or City)

Maybe it's loser talk, but to finish above 2 of City, United and Chelsea would represent quite an achievement given the relative spending power of the 4 clubs.

as either club).

I'd have us as very marginal favourites over Spurs, based on a few key factors.

So, not so much confident, as hopeful.

Last year 'arry took his eye off the ball with the England manager thing and the 5-2 a little bit derailed them. We can't assume that just because they are called Spurs they will choke due to some sort of historical determinism.

I am wondering if the reason Rosicky has been gulagged and Ramsey not allowed to be played in his real position is that AW is determined to get That Middle Three to gel. All that seems to be happening is that they are seizing up and breaking down though. And geting fouled to fùck. Poor Jack

lot of difference. Just enjoy / endure on a match-by-match basis. The three domestic trophies are going to the "big 3" most seasons or a (p)lucky outsider. Be great to qualify for CL again but the world won't end if we don't.
