View Full Version : Awimb's decline. The legends all retired. Then the likes of Fash came along but couldn't

quite do it.
Then you spent the last year relying on modd and look where that's got the place.

I assume there are lots of early 20 somethings that have grown up with a successful team and now feel success is a given right

influential in eroding the tolerance levels of football fans to lack of "success".

Football fans are certainly treated well as consumers in terms of the match day experience, but the disconnect between the fans and players and - in Arsenal's case the manager - has been extremely damaging to fan/club relations.

You never see the likes of Nasri and Chamakh walking to the ground with the fans anymore.

EUFS must at least be in his mid-30s (I picture a wasted Steptoe-like creature), and Redflag brought up us drawing with Leeds in the 70's yesterday iirc.

utterly in the dark about what's going on at their club, in particular on-pitch matters. It is pretty bad customer relations to basically not tell your customers ANYTHING when they lack the resources (intelligence) to work it out for themselves.

menus or anything else until they actually change and announce something. That is the same for when we sign a player imo.

Moaners come in all shapes, sizes, ages and demographics imo.

a lot about on-field matters, but are left to play a guessing game with their own pitiful lack of knowledge and understanding.

r it.

Otherwise Virgin would open the routes first. Just like someone else would sign the player we wanted. Or the price of a player would go up if we announced that we wanted a centre half and had £20m to spend.

, or explaining decisions from previous games. Retrospective stuff, rather than stuff that would compromise forward planning.

I reckon there could be more scope for this.

We all laugh when HR slags off his players in the press and that is ultimately what you are asking for. As he is happy to praise already...

The only other manager I can think of who was refreshingly open and honest was John Gregory and look where that got him.

his comments.

He often does talk negatively about his players, but couched in very soft, tactful terms, so I don't think this would be an entirely radical departure from what we have now.

I just think some scope for fan/manager interaction would be possible with compromising anything.

Currently we are literally told nothing. That is fine for someone like me, who can largely work it out for themselves. But most of our fans are the intellectual dregs of humanity, and they need help.

involving managers and reporters on regularly. I'd say it may encourage everyone to actually think about the game more.

This omerta that exists in our game doesn't really seem to do anybody any favours.

Going by some of the shít I hear around me on matchday, I almost feel sorry for some of them that they understand so little about the game.
