He didn't want to stay and it would have been madness to let him walk away next year. Cashing in was the only thing we could have done.

More likely to have a negative impact tbh, with him sulking, moaning about our schoolboy defensive errors every game

I'd love to see how he makes his business decisions at work

What the club have got wrong over the years is not creating a culture where players are settled, loyal and fulfilled professionally.

Or we could have produced players that weren't so good and therefore not wanted by the big big teams with big money. Pretty much like Spurs model.

alongside young, inexperienced, or low quality players, you're bound to get dissatisfaction

Same as any of us really. If we feel like we're doing well at work, constantly delivering high quality, but half of our team are making basic mistakes (how do I right a formula in Excel?), we'd probably get onto LinkedIn, update our CVs and try to work for a company who only employ high quality staff we can learn from. It's the same basic principle imo

They don't, whatever we may like to think. They have efficient players who are able to fit well into their system, without necessarily being flashy, superstar players

Their inexperienced players who are learning their trade (Smalling, Jones) mainly sit on the bench whilst learning from Rio and Vidic every day in training

Take the money and reinvest in players he believed will deliver that anyway. And we still might.

Have you forgotten all the damage it caused last time we tried it?

Wenger was hired, in part, to put a stop to all that sort of thing.
