if Wenger had done all that they ask (essentially, spent more money on "better" players) and found ourselves in the same position we are now, they would still want him out.

Of course, that is a far harder argument to win (being as it is an argument of a spoilt child) and so they hide behind the conceit that it's his policies they object to.

Boredom and frustration felt by people who, if it all went tits up, as it has for so many other clubs who have adopted the managerial tombola approach, would not be held responsible.

Buying better players improves the chances of finishing higher in the league and also winning competitions. If fans are wrong for wanting that then we may as well all support a **** club who's ticket prices are low. If you dont want your club to invest properly in the playing staff then you are essentially a loser with an ugly girlfriend.

against their wishes.

To me it seems unlikely that if Wenger thought it would be tenable to keep them, he wouldn't have done so.

caused the team's malaise leading to players wanting out. To that point, we can all recall several years of thinking we were just one or two players away from really having a team - and never seeing those signings.

They aren't as simplistic as you want to think they are. Though they are tedious.
