Surely to God the reason why Gibbs is (to quote many) great going forward and poor at defending is the VERY SIMPLE FACT that he goes forward so much.It is an integral part of the team's play and if he does get caught out of position it is because some knob on the team has given the ball away. :shrug: :shrug: :shrug: :garyneville:

It's probably unfair to compare him to Ashley Cole because of course he'll never be half the player Cole is. But when you compare them at a similar age, Cole was such a threat on the left with his runs. Perhaps it's because we had Pires there to help him out, I don't know.

if Gibbs is not scoring goals and making assists,then what is the point of him charging forward. He's just another Clichy ,and we really need a Cashley Cole. Obviously one who will be happy to get less wages thogh :-)
