I follow the German league closely. He is an excellent player. Certainly an upgrade for them on Van der Vaart. Same vision and class but more athletic. Will win 50+ caps for Germany. I can't believe Arsene wouldn't want him. I do believe players may see Spurs as the future above us now.

Holtby could sign a contract on a free for anyone now. He could have had his pick over the next 6 months, sent his agent out to pimp him around over Europe and waited to see what offers came his way during that time before settling on what he could get. However this young German international has plumped for Spurs the moment the January window opened. That is slightly worrying to me, they obviously have more clout than many like to imagine.
