those days seem to be long gone. We now have to have a clear run or pay over the top to very young players (Walcott, OX etc) who then make it & move on because we won't match the going rate for senior players.

He gave me this info. We offered more money to forest at the 11th hour in a bid to derail Keane to man u, but Keane was not even prepared to listen to our offer. He was hell bent on man u.

Up, persuaded him not to sign for blackburn, convinced him to go to united and then told him to sit home and wait, and say nothing.

United then spent the entire summer waiting for forest to buckle, with keane refusing to go anywhere but united. Forest eentually buckled and united got im for less than blackburn offered, and less than the escape clause in his contract.

Interestingly, united then tried to screw keane on wages, offering him far less than blackburn had :hehe:
