One of the many things I love about The Sweeney is seeing so many villains and accomplices played by other well-known actors from the time. In the first three episodes have been Brian Blessed, plus both Brian Glover and Brian 'Mr Barrowclough' Wilde from Porridge.

I can't remember who the guest stars were but they all went on to be quite famous. Quite enjoyed an espisode of Going Straight (the sequel to Porridge for those that don't know). In it were Pete Postelthwaite, Nicholas Lindhurst, David Swift (Henry in Drop the Dead Donkey) and Nigel Hawthorne. Not a bad set of actors

He does a great line in pretentious, overblown, humourless and charmless films.

Any old Tom can put themself forward but not all can perform.

On a seperate note it looks like Munich is the new Milan. Old Awimb, now known as Saga, is descending en-masse it appears. Gird your loins

(amazing how many patches of wasteland there were back then), with blokes smoking, drinking, shouting and staring at womens' legs and arses. Bad guys were beaten up first, questions later - with no lawyers or tape recorders.

And a round of beers was less than pound.
