I read all the hyperventilation about the format, but I liked it and didn't see what all the hubbub was about. bub. All I could tell was that compared to regular 3D the background was strikingly clear instead of blurry.

It did enhance some of the action scenes though, particularly the hilarious getaway scene inside the mountain. I will report back when I see it in 2D.

I wasn't opposed to the idea tbf, just detracted a small bit from my enjoyment of a great film when I watched it.

it was the doddering pace. Like the ooze of molasses on a cold, October 'morn. Positively Cyganesque.

There's a certain presumption that Hollywood makes as to the relative literacy of its audience, hence Jackson made this film for the non-readers out there. It took them an hour to get out of the frickin' hobbit hole for chrissakes.

Only the middle one was any good tbh. I think Jackson is waaaay overrated.

...now i've seen the first one I cant wait for the next two...having said that...its a bit of a jole...the white orc...gets one line in the book...lets not even mention galadriel and yeah...far too much time spent on the unexpected party...seemed a third of the film was the first chapter...loved James nesbitt...still came out thinking it was tremendous...would pay to see it again tomorrow
