I've found something out.
Their medical team made the decision that there was no way the players could've adapted to the time difference for the matches in Japan. So they dilebrately operated on a plus 5 hours time difference while they were there. For the Chelsea players tonight this game will effectively be kicking off at 12.45AM tomorrow morning!
Is this a usual occurence for football teams here in the UK?
Seems fairly dramatic to go these lengths but if I'm right I think they might have looked past tonight's game and focussed their efforts on Japan and then the League matches where Abramovich wants results.
Had a few bets on Leeds to win in 90 minutes, Leeds to Draw and Leeds to Qualify.
Would seem wrong not to considering that Chelsea haven't prepared for this game all that well.
