View Full Version : It's a shame really that we don't have an obvious Vilanova type candidate at Arsenal

who has been immersed in Wengerball philosophy and who could take over the reins when Wenger does eventually go (hopefully a long time from now, but inevitable one day, nonetheless)

Neil Banfield?

Seriously though, ideally the football should come from the club, not the manager.

a coach of sport here in the States is sort of revered for his "coaching family tree", i.e. how many current managers/head coaches got their start or were mentored by him?

It's sort of a big deal in determining his long term status in the sport.

Look at how many coaches would be listed as part of Ferguson's family tree ..... then look at Wenger's. Wenger's tree is very lamp post in shape.

Dictatorial? Unlikely to share knowledge with others? Unable to delegate?

Rather remarkable that there is nobody you can reasonably point to as his successor after all this time.

it used to like watching Brazil , now it's Barca light. Well sort of.
Why would anyone want to copy Wenger anyway, a manager with all of the tactical nous of a house-brick .
His shouting at the 4th offical, instead of at under-performing players , is not something that is ever likely to be implemented into management extra - curricular courses either .
