That is all.

Giroud comes out on top. How about that then?

Which is pretty pointless unless you also provide some pitch time to back it up with.

Henry wasn't our main striker and I would wager Suker played the majority of games early in his first season.

I wonder if they wrote Henry off by the same criteria?

and it's refreshing to see an Arsenal player that wins everything in the air http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/shrug.gif.

Theo's had one game up front against the bottom side, let's see if he can do it against a half decent defense.

7evens would have had Henry sold in the January window in his first season.

I just don't think he can do it on his own in this formation.

It's not like we can defend anyway.

You need to read the posts again.
The worst that's been said is that he's not exactly making himself the default choice at CF and that he has a fair bit to prove at this stage.

As a team we have very often relied on a very special player up front who make the difference between us being an average side and us being in the CL. RvP. Adebayor. Henry before that.
Giroud doesn't have that level of quality.

Top 3 player in a squad that's hugely underperformed.

I mean "trophies", of course.

Nowadays we demand (want, need?) miracles. Instantly.

People can say Giroud has been a flop because he has only scored 7 goals before Christmas in his first season.

Okay, so lets see what the absolute best had done by the same point in his Arsenal career. Oh, he had scored 4 goals.

3-4 years to distill and in that time, the underlying satisfaction that existed back then has almost gone.

In 2006, nobody believed we'd reach 2013 without Wenger having delivered us another big pot or two. Now it is the reality, we've seen it happen.

And if it is, these people who assumed we'd win the league or CL within the next 8 years are worthless cretins.

Why on earth would you think any different?

Actually, expand that to include any pot at all, not just the big ones. Highly unusual situation, I'd say.

In fact the CL is only relevant because you do need a certain depth of quality to overcome the hurdles required to win the trophy, but the fact that no team has ever retained it is telling.

I think people might be forgiven for believing that the club might be capable of winning another big prize in the next decade or so - which is what we are what we are talking about effectively.

At that point it was only Chelsea of the Petroligarchs, and it wasn't clear then how hard we would be hit by the free money clubs hoovering up the best players and inflating variable costs.

So spaffing phrases like 'worthless cretins' before thinking things through was probably not the most lucid analysis.

But redgunamo talks about people being incredulous at the sheer notion that we wouldn't win the league or CL for 8 years. Anyone who believed that is indeed a worthless cretin.

has been a resounding success, largely because of Manchester City's money. Yet that same money often derails Wenger's plans footballistically.

And indeed, that these are the main reason we hired Wenger in the first place. And further, that this is possibly the reason we continue to hire Him.

Of course, football clubs have always traded players, however maybe the perception of the reasons for this used to be different so there's bound to be at least an element of bitterness and resentment as the truth becomes more plain over time.

business work.

It might suit Stan, but Arsene made it very clear that he didn't want to sell Cesc, Nasri and RvP - and that he doesn't want to lose Walcott.

that even if you buy the fans the £50 million striker they were demanding, when he turns out to be a legless, goalshy clown these same fans will spit at your wife and children in the street when you finish fifth in the league and fail to win the European Cup.

So far as He is concerned, the brickbats is just part of the game. The manager's job is to take the blows for the blokes paying him, for which, in this case, He is handsomely rewarded.
