MY adjectives are too small and narrow to describe how I, and many I suspect, feel about what happened yesterday in Connecticut. Little kids, for God's sake!

Everyone thinks of the parents and family, [utting themselves in their position. However, imagine the folks that had to identify and remove the bodies. Wow. That would haunt you for life. Just horrific.

young enough to be blameless and they are totally unable to defend themselves. They live in a bubble that we create for them and this stuff just does not happen to them, until it does of course.

What makes a child any less "innocent" than an adult victim? How is a child any less able to defend themselves against a gunman than a weaponless adult?

Wasn't entirely intentional, but probably shouldn't have been waving it about. Reckless rather than malicious, in other words.

because then you have the f**king media sticking their collective noses in, jostling for some sort of "scoop". Interviewing the kids who survived?!!??!! REally?? MAking them describe the thing is unconscionable. But there they are. And they'll be prowling around for days poking and prodding, goading kids and parents to break down.

It's wholly irrational on its face.

Come to think of it, you also seem to exhibit a sociopathic trait similar to that found in the previous behaviour of perps like this scumbag. Given the prolific infiltration of the nanny state in your country, perhaps it best that someone in the know report your identity and where you live so that the CCTV cameras that are now abundant in the UK can train extra special attention on your whereabouts.

Bad people do bad things happen every day the world over. Of course I understand why this kind of incident feels close to home for many, and in particular parents, but ultimately there's a very serious and complex issue at the heart of it and I see no reason to waste time with sentiment, unless directly affected.

and it is, of course, 180 degrees wrong.

These evil scum are, above all else, cowards. Q: What do churches, schools, malls, every single place this has happened .. what do they have in common? A: They were all publicized up front as "Gun Free Zones".

There's no safer place to be than in a public place that welcomes licensed conceal/carry gun owners. We are trained, have undergone a colonoscopy-esque background check, and are required to continually practice marksmanship and various scenarios in order to maintain said license.

The schools have all kinds of teachers and administrators that are trained in fire safety, tornado safety, conflict resolution, etc. If there were a school that let it be known that a dozen adults employed there that were trained and packing it would be the safest school in the country.

Instead of running or confronting the perp, people were taught to hide. The police, rather than storming into the school, instead "secured the perimeter" (i.e. their own asses). This gave those scumbags 20 minutes to walk around and murder kids that were hiding under desks, in closets, etc.

The thinking has changed, now. Instead throw things at the perp, flee, charge him. That's the preferred method. Some schools are making tentative steps towards having folks trained in forearms on staff.

Ask yourself this: If you had an enemy that was out to get you and your family. The threat was real. Would you put a sign out on your lawn saying that your house was a "Gun Free Zone" ??

Over here, they're generally seen as the domain of the bad guys, who invariably turn them on each other, with the odd lunatic exception, Hungerford, Dunblane.
It's obviously a deeper issue than forcing owners to behave responsibly but I'd rather grow up in a society where guns were confined to the few than one where kids accepted gun stores as a feature on street corners.
