I'm assuming if there was a comet hurtling towards earth we'd have spotted it by now. How about those potentially devastating solar bursts? Nuclear war?

it's meant to be the world as we know it will end, mankind is set to reach a higher state of conciousness and understanding. What could bring this about? possibly finding out that we are not alone in the universe? proof that god exists? humans reaching the next stage in their evolution? whatever it is no civilisation has stated the world will be destroyed just that it will iriversibly change and most believe for the better.
