View Full Version : Although it's nice for Arsenal to spend money on new players. It's not really going to fix anything

is it? if these 'warchest' rumours are true.

And why is it always 50m

The 'spirit' needs to be sorted out too.

Not a great combination imo.

a man like AW would settle for just balancing the books if he had the opportunity to spend big, he's not stupid or that stubborn that he thinks he must work to a nett £0 spend if he didn't have to.

Wenger out. But what if he decides to leave.

Or a nicer solution would be Wenger moves 'upstairs' still involved in the club and a new man is brought in to manage.

Won't really fix anything but could be a nice way for Wenger to move on after he decides he's had enough.

of course he might not be able to access it, but the money is at least there. What exactly is there to cover up? The debate isn't whether the money is there or not, it's been shown to be there.

he's clearly not allowed to spend it (or at least wasn't previously).
There are many good reasons for having £100m in the bank rather than blowing the lot but my assumption would be that he has been told to keep the nett spend low until such a time as sponsorship deals could be regnegotiated. I'm 100% sure AW wants to win trophies as much as you or I

in isolation. You have to look at the balance sheet as a whole and even then you don't get the full story.

Sorry JJ, but you can't come to any firm conclusion on the basis you did.

but I remember when we were going for the double in 02, he was incredibly positive. He turned every question on its head into a positive statement, which must have rubbed off on the players. Like someone asked him if he was nervous about going to Old Trafford for what was the title clincher, he batted it right off and said this is our chance to win the league and we go there to win the game, I believe in my players etc. Also said a few times we could go unbeaten before we actually did.

Now he has his hands tied perhaps, but all this stuff about tiredness and 4th placed trophies, subconsciously or consciously that's surely not instilling the level of belief in his players that he should be, or that he used to previously? They might not be up to title winning standard, but surely he could get a lot more out of them?

whether that be winning the league, or if 4th is the best that can really be achieved. I don't see how a "winner" as PSRB referred to him can get the best out of this group with constant negative statements, and was contrasting that with his previous style when he just so happened to be winning things.

Ask Steve Keen and King Kenny.

saying to the players. It will certainly be different to his public pronouncements.
