told from the horses mouth. Doesn't sound like we were late into negotiations to me.

“We have been in negotiations with Theo for a long, long time, and we have not been late in our renegotiations with him. We always try to extend the contracts very early.”

Maybe.

One shoudl really never believe, or take as fact, the words of any football manager.

time a year? six months? You tell me. I wouldn't get your knickers in a twist too much. As I have said all the evidence is before us. Nasri, Cesc (to a lessor extent) RVP now Walcott. Of course there are lots of players that have signed but generally this is because no one else would pay the wages we do for that calibre of player. That is why our wage bill is the 4th highest.

At the request of Walcott's people. I have for sure read that somewhere, could of course be utter *******s.

Presumably they had spoken at some stage before the suspension though hardly ideal I am sure we'd all agree (without taking sides in the argument).

Thing is we could have been talkign to him for 4 years but if he doesn't want to sign there is not much we can do.

We should concentrate on why we haven't created a culture where players want to stay for life rather than accusing the club of not offering contracts until it is too late.

with said players, but then I'm not the one claiming to know when that was.

My only comment has been that it would be madness for a club to start negotiations that late with a player - hence a club as well-run as ours would be unlikely to do so (unless we didn't want to keep the player, of course).

Unless you are a side like United or Barcelona who are more or less undisputed domestic kingpins that pay top dollar and almost guarantee trophies.

Given that we do neither said culture is a pipe dream.

Arsenal was that no other club wanted him. Of course, as that season went on, we decided we did, after all, want to keep him.

That has no analogy with the Walcott situation.

No way would arsene have agreed to let his contract run past the summer window unless he had indicated that he wanted to stay.

It looks like he has totally stitched us up. Theoretically 'willing' to sign, but with a list of ridiculous demands. If he honestly thinks that he can negotiate a situation where he picks his place innthe side, he is being terribly advised.

Nasri and rvp were dispointing but it seems fairly honest in their intentions. All the pointers here are that theo has stitched wenger up.

What a c**t.

Or maybe not, we shall see

I am sure the lad honestly just does want to play football, he doesn't seem to have the cognitive capacity to think about much else.

Still when he gets his 100k a week contract, his agent will tell him how well he has 'played' the game.

A player's legend briefly increases in these cases to suddenly plateau and then crash to ******** status when he leaves.

A similar thing can happen during periods of extended injury.

Peter
12-07-2012, 12:50 PM
The point is that they dont want to stay, and therefore they leave.

It wouldnt matter when you started the negotiations.
