'Fox believes losing marquee players like Robin van Persie has not damaged the club '

only a daft f**kwit would think that losing v Persie didn't harm the football side of the club........ which begs the question, why did we let him go

Your question should be - Why didn't we creat a club where Fabregas, RvP etc wanted to stay?

“By the time this current shirt deal expires with Emirates, they would have been on our shirt for 13 years. That says a lot about how we run the football club and what’s important to us as a football club.

"So it’s not just about finding the best commercial opportunity.”

"We have a large and engaged fan-base around the world who wants to feel as if they belong to the club, and want to feel proud to belong to the club."

We were all proud to have JVC for so many years and the same will apply to The Emirates. That makes fans more engaged and creates a stronger loyalty. It is better than being a Newcastle fan and having to change the name of your stadium every 6 weeks.

I find a bit misleading.
I'm suggesting that altruism wasn't the determining factor.

Incidentally, Were we all proud to have JVC as a sponsor ? Personally, I couldn't have given a toss.

The point is you gain more by having loyalty to brands associated with the club than you do for chopping and changing for a small amount of extra money. Obviously if the market changed or a brand blew the money out of the water you would change. But I suggest there is a figure where you lose more by changing than you gain in instant monetary terms.

of the overall Emirates financial stranglehold over the club, including the stadium.
I'm not wholly convinced about the branding element, the fans want a successful team on the pitch, first and foremost.
United have seen umpteen shirt sponsors come and go in recent years, I remember they had AIG for a while, but I'd struggle to tell you who is their current nom du jour.

Sponsorship also cuts both ways. It's ultimately linked with success. When that begins to head south, so does everything else, including the fan base.

the paltry amount that we received in previous years; which was well documented and a major critisism of the club in relation to rival deals.

There should be little reason to berate the board and manager for having no money to invest in the squad.
24 million extra for shirt's, cash balance of 154m, should all add up to dragging us away from our mid table slump.
