So far I have taken her to:

Le Gavrouche (Amazing)
L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon (in Paris) (Also amazing)
Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester
La Trompette
Nobu (disappointing)
Les Trois Garcons in Shoreditch
Morgan M

Know there are people on here into this sort of thing. Where else in London does a good tasting menu?

now. Think it's £60 for 8 courses or sommat.

Depends what you're looking for, though. AW at the Westbury is a bit clinky clinky, sterile atmosphere. Typical hotel restaurant, really.

Superb food though.

and, if you're willing to travel outside London, one of my favourite ever Tasting Menus was at The Pass at West Lodge Hotel (even though I puked it all up later)

You could get a crate of beer, a bottle pf champagne and big lump of charlie for the same money. I am convinced you would have a better night.

Still, each to their own. I am not great with birthdays http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/smile.gif

I can find far better ways to enjoy the money is the honest answer.

Part of me finds meals incredibly dull. I would much rather have a drink and grab a bite to eat as and when.

But i would still prefer to dine out in haringey thtn sit there with a bloody taster menu.

I do it for work, which might possibly taint my view. It just isnt really how i like to spend my time. I cant get passionate about food in that way.

In this context are we talking expensive? For instance I always found there were a couple of "nice" little bistros around Islington that were far more enjoyable to eat in than almost all of the supposed top-name restaurants around

is that the places I like will not attract them probably - each to their own. If only we could apply the same rule to football http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/frown.gif

that is because I don't truly appreciate food like some, whereas you're just posturing and putting on a front of inverse snobbery.

And if they only granted entry to people who actually did know the difference, it would be held at The Telephone kiosk di Verona, or the Emirates Bus Shelter and that would be just stupid.

I am not doing that at all. I am expressing a personal opinion, which you asked for. I really dont care where/how and with whom other people choose to eat. It does not interest me in the slightest.

This is nothing to with snobbery and i think you know it. Your analysis is slightly flawed by the fact that i have already said, quite openly, that i dont really appreciate food in that way. Others may well do but why would that make me want to go? I may have to go, for their sake, but that is far from being the same thing.

And let us not enter into a conversation where you attempt to lecture me on respecting the choices, habits snd opinions of others. That would just be damn silly
