RvP had great vision and bags of skill. Adebayor was a physical freak and pretty skillful.
Giroud might be a decent goalscorer playing closely alongside someone perhaps, but that's never going to happen.

Of course players need time to settle, but I'm starting to become quite convinced he's lacking a certain je-ne-sais-quoi.
Like I said his predecessors had certain special qualities. He doesn't, apart from the he seems a decent header of the ball, which is something this team will never be able to fully exploit.

The system has barely settled down yet and clearly has the gifts to play it - hence he has quite a few goals and created a pile of others so far
playing up front as the main striker for Arsenal. Even Chamakh scored quite a few before he died. But we need someone better than that in order to compete for 3rd or 4th.

The system has barely settled down? You mean that system we have been playing for 7 years?

I really don't think so. (2005/2006 was seven years ago - we generally played two up front for the next couple of seasons).
Leaving aside facts, the system of play, is dictated by the personnel to a huge degree, so for instance having a Cazorla playing in the advanced midfield role is hugely different to having Cesc there. Likewise the dovetailing of the central-midfielders and wide players is very different in this team/system than before. We may set up in a similar shape but that doesn't necessarily. There is no way Giroud's role is identical to that of RvP's (I doubt anyone can play that role like him anyway)
