Old Amplefordians Vs. Old Eastbournians
We were 3-0 down midway through the first half. 3-1 down by halftime. Second half and we get it back to 3-3 with 5 mins to go. Then we hit the post from a free kick with 2 minutes to go. Into the dying seconds of the game and our defender slices a clearance. Their centre forward is clean through on me, he gets to the ball just ahead of me, knocks it wide and I clatter him and give away a penalty. Stonewall penalty, no complaints from me. So it is the last kick of the game, their penalty taker has looked in my left corner about 5 times since placing the ball and not once to my right. (I study this along with their body shape and angle of run up). So he takes the penalty and, obviously by this stage, I dive to my right and easily save the penalty. Full time whistle blows and we claim our 3-3 comeback.
I'm not sure how to describe taking a draw from the jaws of defeat from the jaws of success from the jaws of defeat.
