It's important to an extent, but the real thorn of our miscontent lies surely in the dwindling respect for the players and manager that underperform on a consistant basis.

We have a very talented squad of players who are playing well within their capabilities this season, aside from one or two good performances.

The answer is surely how to get more out of them. Make them want to play for each other and commit as a unit.

contenders permanently, the league is full of sleeping giants who will never be big clubs again thru lack of investment.

You'll notice a distinct lack of "investment" by certain other clubs in this respect

Abramovich is pumping a fortune into chelsea and yet they can't buy a win at the minute.

There's more to building success than just throwing money at a problem. It helps, but first you need a group of players to develop as a team.

Ferguson has built a winning mentality up at OT and it's not all been achieved by money. His players would run themselves into the ground for the bloke.

I agree with these comments. We should be doing a lot better than we are doing against teams like Villa and Sunderland . Same with Chelsea because spending all that money has not guaranteed Abromavich that his playboy side will beat lesser sides - and they are already out of the Champions League. Our problems and Chelsea's are down to how the players perform out on the football field the manager's are paid to motivate them to produce acceptable results.
4th largest wage bill in the league does equate to at least 4th place though, and anything less means that Wenger will have underachieved.

to spend whenever he needed it - witness this summer where they took Van Persie from us. Not denying he is a great manager but Manu are no paupers when it comes to spending on wages - Rooney's real wages are apparently well in excess of the published figures.
