First we play entirely the wrong style of football, especially for tournament in South America.

We don't have a nucleus of quality players that we've had in some past campaigns.

There isn't a stream of top level talent flowing from our younger ranks.

We have been very poor in recent tournaments.

Proving that every silver lining has a raincloud is that the FA have finally realized we need to evolve our style from kids level upwards. They have funded a state of the art centre, and identified the man, Dan Ashworth, to oversee the operation, but haven't been able to agree compensation for his early release. FFS, write a big enough cheque and let's get started.

Good chance in Brazil 2014? I hope you're right Roy, but I can't see it.

It's a shame really, as I remember the 1990 WC, Euro '96 etc, and was really up for it back then - always down the pub watching in my England shirt.

Now, the team is half full of players I despise, many of whom don't appear to give a f**k.

I just find the whole international thing a bit of a pain in the ass now, that simply gets in the way of Arsenal playing.

with the expanded CL, and the influx of foreign players mean our local teams star players are often representing a plethora of countries other than England.

In the old days, we used to all gather for even England friendly games, these days they seem like an interference.

I was at the 86,90,92,96 and 2000 tournaments, and it was such a buzz. Hopefully the passion stays with the team, but I don agree it the light is dimming on international football.
