View Full Version : Just watched Awaydays on iPlayer. Has anyone ever seen a good hooligan movie?

Is such a thing possible? Awaydays was ok, and was all the better for not glamorising the ****s, but I was still underwhelmed. I'm not sure the coming of age metaphor of joining hooligan gangs works that well. Then again, I'm an 80's child. Perhaps some of the older Awimbers can explain why hooligan groups were important or even interesting.

Read an extract from his new book and it seemed very much in the convention of gritty British gangster obsession. Maybe I've just seen a few too many British gangster films, but the genre seems saturated.
