but it seems to me that it is the Palestinians themselves that have continued this self-destructive path solely for the aggrandizement of their "leaders". Arafat didn't give two ****s about "his" people. If he did he would have worked to secure a lasting peace, then brought in industry to provide jobs. This was the "path" laid out in the early 70's, constrantly discarded by the Palestinians alone, not the Israelis.

To relate to the indigenous peoples of America, it is those indigenous peoples that recognized reality and assimilated, like my family tree, that laid the groundwork for a better life for their own future generations. Those that claimed victimhood and perpetuated their second-class status are the ones that now have their future generations struggling.

just as there are extreme elements on the palestinians side, there are extreme elements on the israeli side, the big difference is the implications from those in the israeli side are bigger as they are much stronger. everything from sea blockade, land blockade air blockade, carpet bombing, the ability to defend it self.

surely the answer is

israel defends its population. most of the south has been sleeping in bomb shelters for some time for example and there are air riad warnings.

hamas hides amongst the population and uses them a human shields.

Within that 100 you are counting lots of terrorists as well as the odd collaborator shot by hamas.

Outside that 100 worryingly are the people critically injured and maimed.

It isnt a football score and it shouldnt be reported as such as if there is moral equivalence on both sides.
