now this is a crappy, "The People vote" awards show so you know what you are going to get going in.

anyway they were announcing the nominees for Best Pop Album and the presenter said that the winner would "Join Illustrious company like Michael Jackson's Thriller and Bruce Springsteen's Born In The USA"

Heh, they had to reach back more than 25 years ago to come up with "Company" that sounded somewhat substantial.

btw, icing on the cake, Justin Beiber won.

Such is the state of pop music.

was widely considered dead, as I discovered in the late 80's playing a kind of music that a few years later would come to be called Britpop.

By then I was more interested in the energy of the US guitar bands whose DNA basically came from Husker Du. Green Day were one of those, although I never bought one of their records. This last point might mean that not only am I still alive to you, but also that perhaps I partly agree with you.
