View Full Version : In 2 to 3 years we will compete with any club in the world, says Gazidis

Yeh course we will Ivan. If he added except Barcelona, madrid, United, Chelsea City, PSG, those rich Russians etc etc then it would be more realistic. I look forward to the excuses in 3 years.

And I don't get the problem that people have with Kroenke given that none of us have a f**king clue what restrictions or lack thereof he has placed on club spending. The only accurate criticism we can level at him is his relative passivity, but even that is infinitely preferable to the behaviour we see from other foreign owners such as FSG and the Glazers.

with united for players and wages. That's a fact.Kroenke is a wig wearing c**t whose first priority is not Arsenal. The whole Kroenke-Usmanov thing is a complete joke and the main reason for all our problems

We are competing with teams that have unlimited wealth that have caused transfer fee and wage inflation to reach stratospheric levels.

And it isn't like these clubs (let's add Malaga, Anji, PSG and Zenit to the list) stick purely to the world class signings either, they snap up all of the young talent whenever they even threaten to show a bit of class.

Sorry, but you have to allow the club for promises made when we were preparing for the Emirates, the footballing landscape is entirely different a matter of years later.

title contenders to 4th place hopefuls, the next one if devised only in the vain hope of FFP will send us to the Europa League or beyond by which time Mr Gazidis will be a very rich man.

Because they have absolutely ruined the market for being good, young players for not very much

And offer to spend 35 million on Lucas Moura. The market isn't there for us to continue the spending policy we had back when those claims were made - however much we seem to be trying to.

How the f**k then if what you say is true regarding, how the landscape has changed since Danny told us years back how building a bigger stadium would allow us to compete with United, can you be sure then that dopey Ivan, who knows nothing about football anyway, is right in his predictions about how we will be able to compete with everyone in 3 years time?
Personally I can't see Wenger being with us then; or Ivan and his boss Stan either.
The only way that we will compete with the big hitters in football is if Usmanov, or someone with his sort of loot; splashes it about on our behalf. A lack of success regarding winning silverware is impacting on our value relating to sponsorship money.
You do realize that the other clubs are planning to increase their own sponsorship deals - and that due to our previous boards incompetence we are already well behind them in that aspect anyway.

Whether Gazidis believes what he is saying or not is another matter. He could just be trying to ease the negativity among our fans, who know?

The only "issue" off the pitch is that we have the 4th largest wage bill and we are not even close to competing for any of the best players because of our wage structure. Apparently, we pay higher wages to young talent in the hope that they will improve and become big stars. We speculate to accumulate. Unfortunately for every Wilshere there will be half a dozen Djourous, which means we will struglle to move those players that don't fulfil their potential.

Question is, do we have an alternative option?

Bergkamp's Brain

They don't play the same football they did 10 years ago. They have become more attritional and that has helped them win things. They have one or 2 star players and pay them very well. The rest are on relatively modest wages.

Ivan doesn't give a toss about unrest among customers ,that's how he sees supporters, he believes that that there are plenty of mugs out there to take the place of any customers who decide to stop going to games.

If we had greater (and more expensive) quality throughout the squad?

You don't know how he feels about the fans, and even if he did view us just as a source of income, that is his job as our chief exec.

The only thing that bothers me about him is that he doesn't seem to be doing that good a job at actually getting the most out of what deals he has made. Swiss Ramble goes into great detail to show how, you should give it a read.

you still have to put in the graft on the training ground. I think we are too open, not organised and do not play the game to fit the players that we have. Spending money alone will not solve that.

They are in playing terms, though.

halfsharkalligatorhalfman
11-15-2012, 09:51 PM
They would be less susceptible to the kind of comedy f**k-ups we have become accustomed to over the past few years.

It's become nigh-on impossible to find real quality in the bargain basement like Wenger used to. Imagine getting the likes of Anelka or Vieira for the prices we managed to these days. Chelsea would have snapped them up for 12 million a piece before they had hit their 17th birthday.

Bergkamp's Brain
11-15-2012, 10:00 PM
we don't have the quality of 10 years ago. Why do we make so many f**k ups. Is it because we haven't got good players or because we don't do enough work to set ourselves up to be harder to play against?

I think it is more of the latter than the former.

halfsharkalligatorhalfman

Although it is probably a mixture of both reasons.

his praising american owners the Glazer's and those at Liverpool tell me all that I need to know about him. Stan himself owns a franchise called Dicks sportswear in Texas, or some such place , he could open one up here and call it Mugs Sportswear, same thing ,just a different word.
