social activities, or generally getting to know people?

since starting the new place I have made some new colleagues but not really interested in making 'new friends'

I have enough friends as it is. You only need so many.

It's not even an antisocial thing it's just I have no desire to go out of my way. But at the same time doing enough of this sort of thing to keep people happy.

Those who need people around them to relax and those who need to be alone to relax.

It's fairly safe to say that those who need people around them are utter, utter cretins

from my work now to add me on facebook.

Whereas in the past I didn't really care and had plenty of colleagues on there. Though I have since removed plenty of them.

Though facebook finally lost it's appeal to me. It's just an address book now really.

maybe talk to you a lot, think they automatically a friend for life.

it's a bit desperate. during the big exhibition last week I had met loads of people who I used to associate with. One was saying oh great to see you blah blah let's arrange to go out blah blah.

We never did it before http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/shrug.gif and now she's my best mate.

That just seems to be a numbers game.

Oh look Mr X has 1000 friends,so they must be great. Of these 1000 most of them are probably just people they've met a couple of times.

but also worked for the company I worked for.

But when she found out we started going out together out of the blue you couldn't get rid of her. texting and emailing all the time.

She wasn't even a good friend of my girlfriends either.

Takes effort to get to know people and to stay out for a long time after work. When you're young getting back early for home comforts is not on the agenda as much.

Most people are settled in their routines and friendships after 30, unless you just happen to really click with someone you may meet.
