View Full Version : So what chance does anyone give FFP getting implemented in any meaningful way ?

If the worlds governing body are prepared to put on their most prestigious event in the middle of a 50 degree dustbowl, I'm not giving the notion of fairplay much houseroom.

This means that the top three in our league will continue to distance themselves further against the rest over the coming years. We'll continue to compete for CL qualification with the prospect of the odd cup run and all against a backdrop of resigned apathy and overall disolutionment against the concept of the word competition.

Sensible, seems to have become our modus operandi. That's something to console ourselves with eh ?

Apologies for that daydream moment..

I mean what is the worst that could happen?

Why not perhaps look at the underlying critisism of the way the games run in the post mm, before running off to join the, keep Wenger at all costs jerking circle ?

This is football mate, something that we all have an opinion on but not something that should have any meaningful impact on our lives.

They're just musings.

until the stadium debt is paid off. The best we can hope for is to keep up in the top 4 as often as we can in that period. Then we may be able to properly challenge the oligarchs.

Sensible is, I'm afraid, the order of the day. Otherwise we will have done the whole Emirates venture for nothing.

I could easily see us behaving the same way if we were still at Highbury now.

potential to compete with the top 3, whereas we'd have been totally f**ked staying at Highbury.

being conceived so that Wallingford United can win the European Cup. Fairplay is all very well but one doesn't want to go overdoing the thing.

It is being implemented by and for the bigger clubs, at the expense of all those below them. Much like the Champions League, the Premier League, Bundesliga 1+2 and so on. We (the big clubs) have the advantage and this is our latest attempt to hang on to it.

In essence, nothing will change; your strikers will still have to take their chances and you'll still have to organise your backs.

Matchday revenue played a much bigger part in overall club finances. But now TV money has dwarfed it so you could probably get away with being in a smaller stadium. And then the oil money has changed the goalposts again.

It's a handy excuse at the moment.

If only FFP could come into play. We might be able to defend.

should at least be the equal of the likes of Chelsea. The stadium costs around I think £12 million per season to pay off. That's the 20,000 extra fans we get over Chelsea. And the ticket prices are higher than the two Manc clubs too. If FFP is enforced literally, we're right up there now, not when the stadium is paid off

hands behind my back looking troubled and intelligent while keeping quiet and letting the hounds get on with it.

If you have good hounds you can win; if you don't you can't. My input is in selection and boarding and lodging them. Nothing more.
