after this van Persie transfer is getting too much for me. Everyone I see, every facebook post.... I can barely take it anymore. Please God let him get injured. I'd take a 4 week strain just to tide me over to Christmas.

The rest Liverpool. Most of them all plastic Mancs who've never been to Old Trafford, which makes it worse.

About my other point, was it not because of George Best that the support base was established or, like here, did it hail back to Munich?

Harry Gregg was one of the heroes of the Munich air disaster. Then there's Norman Whiteside, McIlroy etc.

fan base both sides of the border.

I'm sure there was talk that we once fielded a team of all Irishers but I can found no evidence of it. I think it likely that we 'could' have done so due to the number of Irish players in squad as a whole.

jennings; nelson, o leary x 2; pat rice; stapelton; brady; john devine and 3 others i can't think off at the moment

a lot of manc support is due to the air disaster, lots started supporting them through sympathy world wide
