Google maps app has gone and replaced with an absolute **** version that seemingly has no tube stations. What the fúck?

The podcast player has also gone. I downloaded a new one and it's an absolute living nightmare to use. Where's the old one gone?

Re: Downgrade ios 6 to ios 5
Oct 3, 2012 5:18 PM (in response to Heather E Curreir)
Here are the facts for those that want to downgrade from iOS6 to iOS5.1.1 to restore the functionality back to their device they had prior to the iOS6 ‘upgrade’:
*
The window to do that closed last week or so, when Apple stopped digital signing iOS5.1.1 firmware. Cyberayhahn beat the window by a few days.* Here is how it works –
*
Whenever you want to load new firmware (iOS) to your Apple device, a digital signature is created by the Apple servers that is unique to your device, and in fact, only your device for that particular iOS.* Even though you can download iOS5.1.1, from Apple and other outlets, without the unique digital signature, the iOS will not load.* The ‘jailbreakers’ caught on to this several iOS operating systems ago. The unique digital signature, also known as the ‘SHSH blob’ (Signature HaSH) for the old iOS must be saved prior to the upgrade, or it is erased.* Most of the folks in this forum and many others across the web, do not know about this catch, so they are stuck with iOS6, like it or not.* The various, so-called ‘fixes’ you see on uTube and other sites all depend on saving the digital signature to reinstate the old iOS. The others that claim success did so before the digital signing window closed.* Apple can re-open that window, if they wish.
*
The real question is why Apple wants to do this.* From their point, it is all good.* Uniformity and predictability make the devices work better.* It also allows Apple to control content, and offer forward only the things they feel are good for the user base (apple maps vs. google maps, to cite one example) .* Oh, and there are more revenue opportunities, too.* The Apple video, ‘1984’, released 22 Jan 1984 is now full circle, with Apple playing the role of ‘Big Brother’, and the faceless, unquestioning masses taking the form of some of the responders in this forum.
*
I’ve always liked Apple devices.* There is good functionality and user features, combined with artistic packaging that really make an elegant device.** As a company, most of the user base holds Apple to a higher standard, which Apple embraces, and profits from.* My concern is that in Apple’s haste (and hubris) to get the new iPhone and iOS6 operating system to the marketplace, they were not able to truly understand the ramifications of iOS6 on the legacy user base.* The refusal to allow a downgrade to iOS5.1.1, that would solve most user complaints until the issues of iOS6 are solved, is a disconnect, and a true stumble in terms of user satisfaction and retention.* No one on this site can say when the next iteration of iOS6 will appear, and which issues will be fixed.* Readers of this post should email Tim Cook (tcookatappledotcom), and let him know how you feel about waiting in Hotel California.

Him being the Minister for Justice.

Expressed his concern that actual aircraft pilots might use google maps incase of emergency and plonk down in the middle of Dundrum where his constituency is.
