View Full Version : You do have to wonder how many impressionable children across the country see the utterly

unremarkable people masqueraded as celebrities on that show and think “wow, I can sing like that, so maybe I can be on that show one day, and have thousands of people screaming my name, and celebrities telling me I’m amazing, and……y’know what? Maybe I don’t need to work so hard at school or take an interest in art, or literature, or politics, or all of that boring stuff afterall, because if fame is attainable for those guys, then it is for me too!"

chance for any kid to do something other than sit about in offices all their life, then they should go for it; there's plenty of time for a' that.

The reality of the thing will bite soon enough but they'll have had a great time.

Hopefully.

to protect and discourage children from dropping everything for the dim hope that they will make it as professionals.

What does xfactor do to to discourage the same?

you clearly overestimate these children, we live in idiocracy, this garbage is what kids want, if it wasnt for these singing shows, they would watch other garbage on tv anyway

Quite the opposite, if you watch all the way through from the auditions stages, it clearly shows the huge number of people who fail

Even as someone who largely defenestrated their own career in persuit of rock ‘n roll, at least I had the decency to do it in real bands, slogging for years around pubs and small venues in various illegal states of mind.

Going on telly to hope to get a career handed to you epitomises the cult of celebrity and get-famous quick without actually doing anything. http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/puke.gif

Onecould make the same argument about the lottery of course. That glimmering false hope thatbwill solve all your problems.

It may be a bad example but you dont have to follow it.

For me it is simply a crap, hammy show full of awful music and total bull****.

Now the same process is sold to us a competition but now they are 'artists' who are 'growing'

I preferred it the old way. It was more honest.

as young, strolling players, entertaining the public for the love of it.

Manufactured as all hell, just like now. And you're right; nobody cares so long as we actually are entertained.
