View Full Version : The bottom line for me though is the board. I don't expect signings in Jan.

We've been "this" close to being there for the past few years, and they board sells, profits, and then tells Wenger to replace with someone cheaper.

So, yeah, we're close again. fighting again for fourth. We'll lose Theo - he'll get offered more money elsewhere by a Champs Lge guaranteed team.

I think Wenger is bailing the boat with a teacup - fine to point your finger at him if you mean he's the point guy for the whole policy, but the policy is done by the board and without Wenger we'd be sunk by now.

Pre-season I called for Lahm. Many also called for a solid backup keeper. If we had a veteran Lb/RB and a veteran keeper in place, we'd be much better off than we are now.

And there's the matter of having to play Gervinho up front - because we don't have a #1 striker.

It's the board, first and only, that is to blame. Wenger would spend if he had it.

No signings in January = no 4th place

Remember he gets 7 million a year to finish no worse than 4th. He would never get those terms elsewhere.

of things.. (confirmed by Arsene, PHW and Gazid****)..
No one in the club dare question Arsene's judgement on a player.. Ofcourse they wouldnt have considered Lahm because that was YOUR recommendation ..

He wasn't afraid to spend money at Monaco and he wasn't afraid to spend money before we started building the new stadium. It is no coincidence.

He's tried to put a positive spin on all the sales in recent years but you can tell they kill him.

you'd have to be completely naive to think the CItys & Chelskis wont find a way to work round it

He's not saying Arsene is blameless - he's talking purely about the lack of investment in the team over the past few years.

You called for Lahm? http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/hehe.gif

Did you chip in with any of the 30m+ it would take to get him?

Any thoughts why the German captain would leave a richer club than ours, his hometown club at that, to play at LB, when he prefers to play at RB?

I called for Messi, myself, but Wenger rightly pointed out that it would 'kill' Gervinho, kill him...

1) Wenger does not get the best out of the players he has. We do not play with any organisation, appreciation of the game, understanding of what needs to change when things are not going for us. This is entirely down to Wenger and nobody else.
Playing Gervinho up front is not a fault of the board.

2) Selling players that do not sign contract extensions is not a business model, or a policy. If a player does not sign an extension we have to get what we can for him. We cannot afford to allow them to walk away on a free. Why they do not sign is another issue. Most of that can be answered in 1)
