Don't know what the media has allowed you to see, but there's rampant looting that's been going on in the dark (no electricity) parts of NYC. Outer boroughs have no gasoline, no food, no electricity. Staten Island, one of the 5 NYC boroughs, is a disaster area... they are still counting the bodies. the mood is on a razor's edge. Not much in the way of relief is in sight.

Parts of NJ have folks still in their waterlogged homes 4 days running - no food, no fuel ... More will die soon.

The presents the media with a dilemma. The powers that be, their faves, have declared that everything is going smoothly. To show the opposite would undermine their "take charge" position ... and the election is this Tuesday.

My guess is that they'll try to keep the lid on things until Wednesday, a tall task given the 24/7 cycle and the internet, twitter, etc.

They are going to run the NYC Marathon tomorrow, FFS!! All to keep up the illusion that things are normal.

At this point both sides have polling data they can point to as "proof" that their guy is going to win.

That's the beauty of this Tuesday. The only "poll" that counts is the actual vote of the people.

I'd be inclined to be you a pair of jeans if yours weren't so, erm, dodgy.

FOX was the only one that didn't call it, greatly increasing their credibility at that time. '04 once again proved that relying on exit polls is folly.

People lie. The especially lie to pollsters. Obama won by +9 in the ecit polls, the "real" margin was +5. Folks don't like to come out in this day and age and say they didn't (won't) vote for Obama for the very real fear that they will be called a racist. I expect the exit polls to once again tilt to Obama, be careful.

When the actual vote doesn't come out the way the polls reflected they think that the vote must be wrong, not the polls.

Anyone to actually count the votes that makes people question it.

Hilarious really.... You lecture the world on democracy but cant even organise your own elections.
