More fun and not as commercial as next big date , kids love it .
least 20 years ago.

But it was a turnip rather than a pumpkin, I seem to remember trick or treat but wasn't as big as it is now.

rather than turnips iirc. Got a £5 off a drunk which was a bloody fortune in those days and spent it all on fireworks, happy days.
