How many cretins used to say he couldn't finish?

Of course it's easy to sneer at a 12-goal match, as you demonstrated, but surely you must have secretly enjoyed the victory.

But all this *******s about it being an incredible match. It was a shambles of a match that would never take place in a tournament that matters. Which discredits it entirely.

spectacles/farces like this.

Sometimes it's the contest that matters, not the quality of the performances.

with a second string good enough to go to a Premiership club and score 7 goals.

I'm sure you can see 12 goal thrillers at break-time in your local school playground, if that's what you're into.

but this tournament is officially more important than beating Spurs, so it must mean something.

I take your point about quality, but in another sport I follow, motor racing, you can often find entertainment in the lower formulae, not because the drivers are better than in Formula One, but because they are worse. I'm not saying that worse is always better, but this was still a match that we, as fans, care about, as the pages of activity here tonight show, and despite the quality, we were entertained by the fightback, and very pleased by the win.

Not sure using the high levels of interest on Awimb as evidence of the game's worth carries much weight. Football fans will watch any old ****e if their team's involved and will happily convince themselves that it actually matters to give themselves a contrived evening's entertainment.

I'm sure I've seen similar Awimb activity for friendlies.
