View Full Version : Do you think Wenger will stick with Santos at left back if Gibbs is still injured?

There's no shortage of players who could play there who would provide pace to mark Nani/Valencia.

Jenkinson's probably the fastest and he played there v Udinesea last season. Sagna, Koscielney and even Vermaelen could play there.

He doesn't eat anything he can't reach.

He's not often in the right position though, is he?

And on Saturday it looked like his confidence was starting to go a bit as he wasn't even taking people on around their penalty area, which he normally seems to love doing.

but he has struggled with pace in the last 2 games and he's going to be up against a pacey winger on Saturday (probably).
Jamie Mackie running into our box in the 93rd minute on Saturday while Santos hugged the touchline confirmed it.

Wenger dropped Mertesacker for Chelseas because he thought Koscielney was better to deal with Chelsea's tricky midfielders and Torres runs. Just asking the question if maybe he'll do thse same on Saturday for the left back position. Santos is hardly best suited to mark Valencia? But as you say he'll do well in possesion for us.
