obsessed.

Utter joke.

Many of the dead are Commonwealth citizens, from countries with a large British diaspora, from countries that play cricket.

Yet they're insignificant compared to the septics?

This was meant to have ended in the 70s/80s when Not The Nine O'clock News did the sketch about dead air-crash victim's nationalities.

When they're a commonwealth country, they have many 2/3rd generation living here, and we share a sporting heritage?

I don't get why Jamaicans are worth less to the British media than Yanks.

Even those liberal, multi-cultural bastions, the Graun and the Beeb, are doing it. And doing it big time.

than a bit of US wind and rain damage.

Hope it stops.

(Both the storm and the sub-conscious racism of the UK media.)

Western English speakers compared to "others".

Not right, imo.

biggest storms to hit the US. Why do you think it is getting so much coverage rigut now? Honestly.....

People dying in hurricanes in Haiti happens all the time because it's a third world country and they're living in squalor. It's like moaning about the news not reporting on somalians dying of thirst in a drought.

Haiti was also mentioned in the news when the hurricane hit it 4 days ago...

which can effect millions of peoples and the world economy in general is a bigger news than when it effected smaller island nations.

i agree all lives are equal, however you need to understand, most ppl in the world know someone in new york, which explained why there is more interest.

would be more interested in hearing about storm hitting new york than Haiti. its not racism, just bigger city, more potential for damage, in terms of human and economic, most people wonder how the person they know deals with it, people wants to see the response from the only super power in the world.

it is simply more newsworthy, even though i agree with you that all human life are worth the same.

hope that helps GG, anyway, i have an early morning i need to hit the bed.
