Or was Wenger hedging his bets on RvP being out injured for much of the time?

I seem to recall Wenger always banging on about selling our top players to our (English) rivals. Well that mantra has well and truly been chucked out with the bath water.

win the f**king league. RvP re-signs for the champions and all are happy?

And dont give me all this "his statement made his position untenable" guff. Give a vague apology, score a goal or two and it would have been forgotten instantly.

We wont win anything ever again if we cant take 1 or 2 risks. Lack of ambition http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/banghead.gif

Newcastle, everton....that would have been bad.

Stengthening united makes little difference to us.

Lose out on £24M + having to pay the wages

Have a player who is not interested in staying. He would not have performed anywhere like he did last season. He would have been like Adebayor in 08/09.

Oh no, we might have had to dip into the 80 million we have sitting in the bank to plug the gap if things went wrong.

Besides, if we had a team seriously aiming for a title challenge we'd at least guarantee glorious champions league qualification. As it stands we're aiming for fourth and eventually we will end up fifth because of it.

but I'd like to think he is the type of player who would of still given his all. Sulking and not playing wouldn't of helped his end of season move and there was always a chance he would of changed his mind if we added some quality.

don't be stupid enough to take the board literally. It is more likely to be a case of the Emperor's new clothes.
