massive contract for tv rights maximized by lakers in exclusive contract with content provider.
outrageous fee per customer being charged by contract bid winner (time warner) for any distribution network (i.e. direct tv or cox) wanting to carry the lakers broadcast on their service network.

i.e. my t.v. service provider would have to pay $4 per month royalty for me because i'm one of their subscribers, which would surely in turn be passed on to me.

note that i may have watched a half dozen bball games last year, none of them for more than the last 5-10 minutes per game. all games watched were on major networks and not some side channel(abc, cbs, nbc, espn etc.)

distribution network providers are at present showing 2 fingers to time warner over this. well played imo, i don't want the cost passed on to me for drivel i don't watch. note- time warner has it's own dist. network which is not available in my geographical area.

end result- many local lakers fans won't get to see the regular games they have become accustomed to (without moving home to a times warner serviced area).

all in all- a big contract negotiated by the lakers to the ultimate detriment of their fans experience.

so i really, really hope something similar doesn't happen with Arsenal availability on tv over here.
