Manager Arsene Wenger felt his players 'hit the wall' in their back-to-back defeats over the past week but has challenged them to produce a response against struggling QPR on Saturday.

The Gunners had impressed before the international break but then slumped to a 1-0 defeat at Norwich last Saturday which left them 10 points behind Barclays Premier League leaders Chelsea before putting on another lacklustre display against Schalke to lose top spot in Champions League Group B.

Those results contributed to a heated annual general meeting at the Emirates Stadium, where Wenger's address restored a sense of calm after chairman Peter Hill-Wood, chief executive Ivan Gazidis and majority shareholder Stan Kroenke were all heckled.

The Arsenal manager believes the players can quickly change the mood with a return to winning ways.

'At West Ham, we looked outstanding going forwards, dynamic and then suddenly had two flat performances. It is difficult to explain,' said Wenger.

'We have hit the wall a little bit in the last two games, and just did not find our rhythm.

'But we have to just focus again on the quality of our game, the way we want to play, and not concede too much against who we play.

'With the quality (we have), the results will come back.'

Wenger continued: 'We have to put what happened to us on Wednesday night into perspective - we know we were not at our best, but we have lost one game in 43 home European games. An accident like that can happen.

'We are still in a strong position in the Champions League, what is important for us now is to bounce back and have a good result in the Premier League.'

England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is hopefully of overcoming the hip injury he suffered as a substitute at Norwich, but Kieran Gibbs (thigh) and Theo Walcott (chest) remain out.

you have to ask why not. He should know why, then he can fix it. If he doesn't what the f**k is he doing?

I'm trying to have an Arsenal conversation on this board and you all act like children.

What do you actually think rather than just dismiss my opinion.
Nic, in your opinion why have we been so poor for the last two games? I'd say we weren't focused for Norwich, maybe expecting an easy game. Can't explain Weds, should of been well up for it. Striker roll? Should we have started with Giroud?

Answer the f**king questions man.

We were dreadful in both matches as most of us have already said in the last few days

I really can't explain why the sudden loss of form. They seem to lack confidence but what we mustn't ignore is that Schalke were an exceptional team as they also proved against Dortmund (away) 5 days earlier.

Both Defensively and offensively the loss of Gibbs has made a big difference; the goal v Norwich the usual defenders were in line and had Santos done the same the Holt would have been offside. The Schalke first goal was exactly the same.

However, we were completely outplayed by Schalke and we have to hope that we'll see the old Arsenal (Pre Norwich) tomorrow and for the rest of the season

Wenger is right about us being outstanding going forward against the Hammers - however we were not that great in defense - with that useless big fool Carroll winning every ball in the air- only West Ham's failure to take their chances gave us the 3 points. Nolan was the chief culprit - on another day he could have had a hat trick. We were not that great in the second half against Montpellier either regarding defending and again only their failure to convert the chances they easily made let us off the hook.
The other night's result against the superior German side was no big surprise - unless you need a visit to SpecSavers that is - because the defensive problems that we still have are obvious and are nothing to do with off nights for players .Mertesacker was the only defender up to the job - Santos and the others were pony - end of.
I've no idea why Wenger played most of the game without a proper striker though and why he waited until his customary 70 minutes until he sent on Giroud . Perhaps one of the geniuses on here knows the answer. Along with how it is that Wenger is 2 points behind that great tactician and man mountain Fat Sam and his side .
I think we will win tomorrow but I'm not confident about us beating United away. So it all depends on other sides doing us favors tomorrow if we are to improve our prospects of winning a trophy again. If you believe that finishing 4th in the league is a trophy. And if you do then you will believe anything .Lol.

I think QPR is going to be tough, I'll be as happy as you will be if we take 3 points. Thanks for answering.

Infact anyone on the bench, even Djourou, would have done a better job
