Why do the subs warm up down the other end of the pitch in Champions League games?

why do the extra goal-side officials in european games (or at least on weds) stand on the same side of the pitch as the "normal" linesmen?

I know about refs running the diagonal but (a) they are wired up and (b) wouldnt it be more effective for them to be on the far side from the linesmen.

Actually, that could become as celebrated as Botham's "gin-sodden dodderers" quip. If it hasn't already.

Scenario 1
The extra lino is on the opposite side of the line lino.
The ref runs the diagonal so at any time there will be 2 officials with the best line of sight and one with the far view

Scenario 2
The extra lino is on the same side as the line lino.
The ref runs the opposite diagonal so at any one time there are 2 officials with the best line of sight and one with the far view

Ermmmmmm it doesn't matter.

counter-intuitive and obviously wrong that there must be some idea behind it, idiotic or otherwise.

I'm just keen to know what this idea is tbh. Mainly so as I can then criticise its idiocy from a point of knowledge.

as an extension of the linesman. One who can wrap around the end of the pitch and see a different view into the box.

This shouldn't interfere with the referee patrolling his side.

Bottom line is one side of the box is watched by two officials whose movement is restricted by the white line. The other side is given to somebody free to move in any direction to get the best angle.

Not that any of the useless f**kers appear to have been issued with a pair of functioning eyes in any case.

Watch any game, subs will always warm up to the right of the benches.
