1. Ivan and Arsene gave very good speeches at the AGM. Speeches in which they talked a lot of sense. Gazidiz mentioned that some supporters take finishing 3rd and being ranked 6th by UEFA for granted, despite us operating under financial constraints that the stadium has caused. It is a remarkable achievement and one which we must thank the manager and players for.
2. As Gazidiz says, the initial deals that actually made the construction of the stadium possible in the first place are now drawing to an end. When Arsenal have the opportunity to re-negotiate them in the next couple of years, we will have significantly more cash income with no additional expenditure. Gazidiz says he is extremely confident that we will be in a position to capitalise on that.
3. We have some of the best young talent (English and otherwise) around at the club and we should continue to harvest that. Hopefully the return of Wilshere and Chamberlain this weekend will give the whole squad a lift and provide the creative spark we need (or at least take the focus off Cazorla).
4. Wenger will almost certainly do it again and get us into the top four despite there being clubs with greater spending power around us (for the time being).
Gazidiz said at the start that an AGM is an ANNUAL General Meeting. The focus being on the Annual. As such, we should consider the achievements of the club in the last year. To finish highest of any other club bar United and City is brilliant. If we can continue to do that, or at least come top four for the next couple of seasons, we can really continue to push on and actually win some trophies. Especially with FFP being enforced on a European scale and the FA starting to make moves to enforce it at a national level.
Fans must realise that it is simply not possible for us to compete with the best for the next two or three seasons. But if the team sticks together under the management of Wenger then we can hopefully tread water until we're actually in a comparatively strong position.
